Elisabet Apelmo (SE)

The series Me in my mother’s clothes was made in 1999. I dressed myself in my mother’s clothes, and took colour photos in my parents’ home in the countryside in Sweden. I tried to find poses that I recognized from my mother. It was intimate, everyday situations in the kitchen, the living room, the bedroom and the bathroom, scenes usually hidden for people outside the family. The photo for Billboard Istanbul 2020 originates from a black and white polaroid taken during this photo session, and is now shown for the first time. An extra dimension is given this rather private photo as it is blown up and shown in public space.
